Benoit Marie Moriceau est né en 1980, il vit et travaille à Rennes.

Les installations de Benoît-Marie Moriceau se développent selon les circonstances d’exposition ou selon la nature des lieux dans lequel il est amené à intervenir. A partir d‘un vocabulaire formel élémentaire, ses interventions génèrent des perturbations ou des dérèglements perceptifs qui oscillent continuellement entre l’infime et le spectaculaire. Les différents lieux qu’il investit peuvent être considérés autant comme les supports de ses oeuvres que comme les oeuvres elles-mêmes. Il entend ainsi prolonger, réinterroger et actualiser les présupposés de l’art conceptuel concernant les espaces de l’art et ses modalités d’apparition.

Son oeuvre relève une succession de gestes, de dérèglements ou de leurres à même de rendre tangible le rapport entre l’art et le réel, ses zones de frottements et ses discontinuités.

Son travail a notamment fait l’objet d’expositions au Palais de Tokyo (Paris) et à la Tate Modern (Londres) et à Winzavod (Moscou). En 2011, l’artiste a inauguré le «Mosquito Coast Factory», un atelier de 500 m2 dans lequel il organise des projets d’exposition collaboratifs. En 2012 , il a effectué une résidence de recherche à Marfa (Texas).

Benoît-Marie Moriceau (born in 1980) lives and works in Rennes, France. His installations are elaborated in accordance with the circumstances of exhibition or the nature of places in which he is called on to work. Starting form a basic formal vocabulary, his interventions generate disruption or perceptual disturbance that oscillate constantly between small and spectacular. The different places he invests may be considered both as media of his artworks and as the artworks themselves. He thus intends to extend, re-examine and update the assump- tions of conceptual art about art spaces and its terms of appearance.
His work is based on a series of gestures, disturbances or decoys able to make tangible the relationship between art and reality, its friction areas and discontinuities.
His work has been exhibited at the Palais de Tokyo (Paris), at the Tate Modern (London), and at Winzavod (Moscow). In 2011, the artist opened the “Mosquito Coast Factory,” a workshop of 500 m2 in which he organizes collaborative exhibition projects. In 2012, he completed a research residency in Marfa (Texas).
