The development of the film produced by Acqua alta and Poteau d'angle was supported in 2018 as part of Cnap's Image/mouvement scheme and premiered in French competition at the last Cinéma du réel festival.

The UK Premiere of Foedora screens on Tuesday 6 July, followed by a pre-recorded conversation with director Judith Abensour. The film will then be shown daily during the week of July 9-15.

Synopsis

In may 2016 opened the new Palestinian Museum which is dedicated to Palestinian history and culture. It is located in Bir Zeit, a university town near Ramallah. Placed at the top of a hill  of Palestine, this ultra contemporary building, designed by the irish architects Henneghan Peng, rises with a powerful presence from the stony landscape. Inaugurated without any exhibition, this museum will stay empty till the opening of the first exhibition. Why this museum stayed empty so long ? What is revealed by this emptiness ? The film is taking place during this transition period going from the opening of the building till the setting up of the first exhibition, finally devoted to Jerusalem. Fedora is a voice haunting the new Museum : one can hear the echo of an other project that did not take place. A suspended time between what did not take place and what will happen for real, Fedora is like a construction site of a dreamt city, in contrast with a political reality where the future for a Palestinian State is becoming increasingly hypothetical.
